The boxes are off to the Philippines!

We were given a good opportunity to send the boxes to the Philippines at a good price.  There was one hitch: it needed to be ready by Wednesday, and it was already Monday.

The box was nearly full, we were confident it can be done.  But two boxes?  In two days' time?

Tita Cory and Tita Tina took the reins and began calling up friends while the message calling for donations were posted here and on Facebook.

By Wednesday we were able to fill up the box, with more stuff waiting to be packed.

We received toys in excellent condition, and colouful clothes that's sure to put a smile on the kids!

More stuff arrived in the evening.

Tita Cory's home was also busy with donations.  They did their rounds to other houses before meeting up at Tita Tina's.
The rest of the stuff will have to be packed where the boxes were to be sent.  There was still work ahead.  Tita Cory and Tito Glen hauling the stuff to their van.

The van held our precious cargo.

We immediately set off to packing the stuff in.

A lucky kid will receive this super-sized Batmobile!

Tito Danny was also on hand to help out.

We managed to pack 3 boxes in all!
It's off to the shipping container.

We are happy with the outcome of this project.  We hope that the stuff we have put together will be helpful to the kids at Ulingan.  We packed clothing, books, board games, puzzles, toys, footwear, and a variety of  pens.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the family of Aqui and Ia, Kristel and Allister, Lorelei and Miguel, Julien and Joey, Tito Danny and Tita Pauline, our friends from the Church of Christ here in Wellington, especially the Moore's and the Toatelegese's, and those who shared the news with their peers about this project.

We were no longer able to get the other offers of donation, so sorry as we ran out of time.  There could be other opportunities though!

But the Ulingan project is not yet finished.  We need to source out the funds to pay for sending the boxes, and it will also be great to be able to sponsor at least one child to go to school.  Check out the Ulingan Project news item to learn how.

In behalf of the kids at Ulingan, maraming salamat po!
